Surfaces Chosen for the Traffic
A track that takes a loaded trailer twice a day needs a different build from a lane that mostly sees cars and the odd delivery. We look at what uses the road, how wet the ground gets and how far it runs before suggesting a surface.
- Tarmac: a sealed, smooth finish for main access roads and yards
- Tar and chip: a dressed finish that suits a rural setting, laid over a sound base
- Planings or hardcore: a compacted, economical surface for tracks with lighter use
- Concrete: for yards and standings that take heavy loads, scraping and spills
Our WorkAbout Us
Our Experience with Farm Roads
We are a family run groundworks business based in Staplehurst, and we bring over 20 years of experience to every farm roads job across Kent, East and West Sussex and south-east London.
The same small, friendly team surveys the job, prepares the ground and finishes the surface, so you deal with the people doing the work from the first visit to the final sweep.
We have worked on behalf of Kent County Council and utility companies, our team is registered with the Street Works Qualifications Register, and we are approved under the Trading Standards Buy With Confidence scheme.

Drainage Keeps the Track in One Piece
Standing water is what breaks farm roads up. We build in a crossfall or camber so rain runs off to ditches or drains, and lay pipes under the track where water needs to cross it.
A well-compacted sub-base under any of these surfaces is what stops ruts forming in the first wet winter.

Working Around a Working Farm
The farm keeps running while we are there, so access for machinery, livestock and deliveries is agreed before work starts, and longer tracks can be done a section at a time. Equestrian yards and stable bases are built with the same approach.
